BlogsManagement Support & Training: Why Every Company Needs It
November 6, 2017, by John Welches
It’s a simple fact that employees are usually happier and more engaged when they trust management. That’s why it’s so important to provide quality management support and invest in your company’s training programs. Here are a few ways you can show your employees you care.
Show How Much You Value Your Employees
Building a successful culture isn’t always easy, but you’ll see a clear difference when it’s done right. It helps to set realistic expectations and provide rewards to employees, which show value for their hard work and dedication. The research shows that 43 percent of employees quit because they feel a lack of recognition and 31 percent quit because they simply don’t like their boss.
Therefore, you want your employees to feel good about their management. Are they honest and ethical? Are they approachable and dependable? Are they providing regular positive feedback to employees? Ideally, employees should get some sense of reward or positive reinforcement on a regular basis.
Focus on Training
Having quality training set in place is vital. Training your management staff to support and encourage your employees can be very valuable. Arm them with the tools they need to go into battle, as well as communicate service expectations. This helps make sure everyone is on the same page and working toward the same goals.
“When the trust account is high, communication is easy, instant, and effective,” says Stephen R. Covey, author of the best-selling business motivational book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.
In his book, How to Win Friends and Influence People, Dale Carnegie sums up the idea of positive reinforcement: “If some people are so hungry for a feeling of importance that they actually go insane to get it, imagine what miracle you and I can achieve by giving people honest appreciation this side of insanity.”
